Fixing the street lights in your neighborhood

Beginning in January, AEP Ohio crews will be in your neighborhood to replace the underground wire that feeds power to your street lights.

What to Expect

Crews will dig a small pit in the green space between your curb and sidewalk to replace the underground wire that feeds your street light. We'll work directly with Ohio Utility Protection Services to mark public utilities on your property such as electric, gas, phone, cable, water, sewer, etc.

Our goal is to minimize any inconvenience to you. Weather permitting, our landscaping crew will return within two weeks to restore any impacted areas of your yard.

There are four phases of work during this project, with each phase lasting approximately six months. Details are available on the locations of work during each phase.

It's time to install new wire to make sure your street lighting is reliable and shines bright in your neighborhood.
Crews will dig a small pit in the green space between your curb and sidewalk to replace the underground wire that feeds your street light. The area will be marked off with cones and yellow caution tape as a safety precaution until the work is completed.

There are four phases of work during this project, with each phase lasting approximately six months.

Phase 1, September 2019 to December 2019: Lincoln Village
Phase 2, January 2020 to Spring 2020
Phase 3, Spring 2020 to Fall 2020
Phase 4, Fall 2020 to Spring 2020

You will receive a postcard in the mail from AEP Ohio to let you know that you can expect to receive an automated phone call approximately 48 hours before the work begins. When we arrive, we'll knock on your door to let you know. You don't need to be at home for our crews to perform the work in your yard.
Our goal is to minimize any inconvenience to you. Rest assured, crews will work to restore any impacted areas of your yard.
The wires are underground along the curbside, near your street lighting.
You should not experience power outages during this work. However, crews may need to take an emergency power outage for their safety if unforeseen circumstances arise.
