Thank you for your patience.
Any customer who desires service from a Competitive Service Provider (CSP) must first contract with a Competitive Retail Electric Service (CRES) Provider who will arrange for the provision of such services. The CRES Provider shall then notify the Company at least twelve (12) calendar days prior to the customer’s regularly scheduled meter reading date after which the customer will receive service from the CSP. All changes in CRES Providers shall occur at the end of the customer’s regularly scheduled meter reading date. Any request to change a customer’s CRES Provider received after twelve (12) calendar days prior to the customer’s regularly scheduled meter reading date shall become effective the subsequent billing month.
To switch any SDI with a maximum monthly billing demand of 200 kW or greater for the most recent 12 months it is required that interval metering be installed. An interval meter measures and records your usage in discrete time intervals, such as hours, throughout the month. You or your new provider must request installation of interval metering from AEP Ohio. You are responsible for all costs associated with interval metering, including any charges to cover the incremental cost of operation and maintenance and meter data management. You must approve a work order for this installation. Other optional services, such as pulse metering for energy management purposes, and “read only” software to read and download your interval data are also available. Your account representative can provide you with these costs, as they vary based on size and type of electric service you have.
NOTE: There are many third party providers that can offer a variety of energy and energy management services and equipment. AEP Ohio cannot recommend a provider or advise you on your choice of providers. Your account representative can provide you with these costs, as they vary based on size and type of electric service you have.
A dedicated phone line also is required at the meter location and you are responsible for associated installation and maintenance costs.
