UPDATE ON STORM RESTORATION EFFORTS: 5-13-2015, 11 a.m.

AEP Texas crews have made significant progress in restoring power following the Tuesday morning although new storms are causing new outages and standing water is making access difficult in many areas.   As of 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday morning, the number of outages had been reduced to approximately 4,200 as compared to 41,000 at the outage peak, which occurred at 5 a.m. on Tuesday.

The areas with the most number of outages include:

Corpus Christi District - approximately 1,455 outages

Corpus Christi southside area – 470 outages (Estimated restoration: Wednesday afternoon)

Corpus Christi midtown area – 690  outages (Estimated restoration: Wednesday evening)

Aransas Pass - 60 outages (Estimated restoration: Wednesday evening)

Beeville and surrounding areas - 60 outages (Estimated restoration: Wednesday afternoon)

Sinton area – 70 outages (Estimated restoration: Wednesday afternoon)

Laredo District - approximately 1,570 outages

Falfurrias – 1,000 outages (Estimated restoration: Thursday evening, if not sooner)

Eagle Pass – 61 outages (Estimated restoration: mid-day on Thursday evening, if not sooner)

Carrizo Springs – 240 outages (Estimated restoration: mid-day on Thursday evening, if not sooner)

Uvalde – 170 outages (Estimated restoration: Wednesday afternoon)

Hebbronville – 70 outages (Estimated restoration: Wednesday evening)

Laredo – 200 outages (Estimated restoration: Wednesday evening, if not sooner)

Pearsall – 100 outages (Estimated restoration: Wednesday evening, if not sooner)

Rio Grande Valley District - approximately 1,170 outages

Weslaco – 185 outages (Estimated restoration: mid-day on Thursday if not sooner)

Edinburg – 900 outages (Estimated restoration: mid-day on Thursday, if not sooner)

- Restoration of service to the other areas in the Valley is anticipated by Wednesday afternoon.

All of these estimated restoration times could be impacted if new weather results in new outages.   Contract and outside crews continue to arrive to assist in the restoration efforts.  Approximately 120 personnel were called in from outside the AEP Texas service territory.
