AEP Ohio Names Marc Reitter President and Chief Operating Officer

June 22, 2021

GAHANNA, Ohio — American Electric Power (NYSE: AEP) today named Marc Reitter president and chief operating officer of AEP Ohio, effective August 1, 2021. Lisa Kelso will replace Reitter as AEP Ohio’s vice president of regulatory and finance.

Reitter will lead all aspects of AEP Ohio’s electric service responsibilities and will report to Lisa Barton, executive vice president and chief operating officer for AEP. He replaces Raja Sundararajan, who has been named AEP senior vice president of regulatory and customer solutions.

“Marc has helped navigate a complex regulatory environment while managing the finances of AEP Ohio — both responsibilities that require long-term vision, strategic thinking and creative problem solving,” said Barton. “Under Raja’s leadership, AEP Ohio has made significant improvement in the reliability of electric service to our customers and achieved the best employee safety performance in 10 years. Marc will continue this momentum. His skills and community relationships will be critical assets as he works with his team to further enhance AEP Ohio’s delivery of electricity and bring new services to our customers.”

Reitter, 43, was named to his current position in May 2016. Since joining AEP in 2002, he has held leadership positions in AEP’s Finance organization, AEP’s Strategic Initiatives group, and in Utility Group Business Services, assisting in business development opportunities. He earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Arizona State University and a master’s of business administration from the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University. An Ohio native, Reitter serves as board chair for Goodwill Columbus and is a member of the governing board for Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio. He resides in Granville with his wife and three children.

Kelso, 40, was named to her current position as director of regulatory services in March 2021. Since joining AEP in 2008, she has been director of business operations support for AEP Ohio, held management positions in AEP’s Transmission Asset Strategy and Business Planning organizations and worked in AEP’s audit services department. Prior to joining AEP, Kelso worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and the Ohio Senate. A certified public accountant, Kelso also holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Ohio University and a master’s degree in accounting from The Ohio State University. Kelso serves on the Central Ohio Advisory Board of A Kid Again, is a past member of the Junior League of Columbus board, and a graduate of Leadership Columbus. Kelso lives with her husband and two children in Upper Arlington.

“Lisa’s extensive experience in the utility sector, her financial acumen and solutions-oriented approach to complex issues make her a dynamic and welcome addition to our leadership team,” said Reitter.
