Matt McKenzie

Vice President, Regulatory and Finance

Matthew McKenzie is vice president, Regulatory and Finance, for AEP Ohio. He is responsible for the company’s financial planning and strategy and leads the company’s regulatory activities in Ohio.

McKenzie joined AEP in 2014 as Senior Counsel in AEP’s legal department representing AEP operating companies in regulatory proceedings before state utility commissions. In 2020, he was promoted to Senior Counsel and Director – Performance Transformation, overseeing the department’s financial performance and business operations. McKenzie continued to represent AEP Ohio from 2022 to 2024 as a private attorney.

Before joining AEP, McKenzie worked as an attorney in the Supreme Court and Appellate Practice Group of the law firm Jenner & Block in Washington, D.C. He also clerked for two federal judges.

McKenzie received a Juris Doctor degree from Yale Law School and graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy.
