SITUATION UPDATE
The approximately 83,000 customers who were affected by outages brought on by high winds and rain from Hurricane Helene are back in power. Over the past five days, personnel have worked around the clock — mainly in hard-hit areas in southern and central Ohio — often using drones and specialized equipment to reach damage in difficult terrain.
We know being without power is frustrating, and our crews appreciated the ongoing support from our customers as they worked tirelessly to replace and repair equipment damaged by the storm. Our team extends a heartfelt thank you for the kindness and patience shown during this restoration effort.
TREE-RELATED OUTAGES
The original customers who experienced an outage due to the weather that began on September 27 have been restored. However, the ground is still soft from the heavy rains, so trees are continuing to fall — sometimes damaging our equipment and causing additional outages. Our team is responding safely and as quickly as possible to address new issues. Be sure to stay as far away as possible from any downed lines and anything they may be touching.
Tree Debris Cleanup
Some customers may still have tree limbs or other debris in their yards following the storm. During storms and outages, our tree crews are among the first on the scene when responding to severe weather. They move as quickly as they can to safely remove trees from our lines and equipment, helping clear the way for lineworkers to make repairs and restore power. In these instances, property owners are responsible for cleaning up and disposing of the trees or branches cut by our tree crews after severe weather.
