AEP Ohio has filed a settlement agreement that addresses the extreme power needs of Ohio’s growing data center industry while protecting AEP Ohio’s other customers. The staff of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, the Ohio Consumers’ Counsel (OCC), the Ohio Energy Group (OEG), Ohio Partners for Affordable Energy, and Walmart joined AEP Ohio in the filing.

AEP Ohio Plans Overnight I-270 Rolling Road Blocks Oct. 8-15 to Install Electric Transmission Wires and Poles

To provide more reliable electric service to our customers, AEP Ohio will temporarily close I-270 while crews upgrade the power grid with the installation of electric power poles and wires. Rolling roadblocks will occur in 15-minute intervals while crews complete the work.

4 P.M. STORM UPDATE: ASSESSMENT COMPLETE AS CREWS CONTINUE TO RESTORE POWER

Around-the-clock restoration efforts continue across southern Ohio following severe weather from Hurricane Helene. As of 2:30 p.m., just under 6,700 customers remain without power. Over 92% of the 83,000 customers affected at the height of the storm have been restored.

5:30 P.M. STORM UPDATE: POWER RESTORATION CONTINUES FOLLOWING HURRICANE HELENE

Field personnel have restored power to approximately 83% of customers since extreme wind and rain from Hurricane Helene crossed Ohio. About 13,600 customers remain without electricity since the height of the storm when 83,000 were affected.

9 P.M. STORM UPDATE: ESTIMATED RESTORATION TIMES AVAILABLE

As of 8:30 p.m. today, about 27,700 customers remain without power after Hurricane Helene caused damage to our power lines and equipment. More than 1,300 field personnel are making solid progress, with over 55,000 customers back in power.

1 P.M. STORM UPDATE: DAMAGE ASSESSMENT & RESTORATION CONTINUE FOLLOWING HURRICANE HELENE

As weather allowed, crews continued the hard work overnight and into the morning of assessing damage and restoring electricity to customers after Hurricane Helene brought extreme winds and rain to central and southern Ohio. At the height of the event, approximately 83,000 customers were impacted. As of noon, approximately 43,500 customers remain without power.

Power Restoration Efforts Underway as Helene Moves Through Ohio

As the effects of Hurricane Helene cross Ohio, about 79,000 customers are currently without power. While outages are scattered across the state, the majority are in central and southern Ohio.
