AEP Ohio and the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium are celebrating a significant milestone in their Trim to Treat® partnership: the delivery of over 1 million linear feet of fresh tree trimmings, also known as browse, to the Zoo. That’s equal to more than 2,700 football fields laid end-to-end! This accomplishment highlights a successful collaboration that serves a dual purpose — helping protect the electric grid and supporting animals at the Zoo.
Working with you to make brighter futures defines who we are as an electric company. From the time our company's forefathers put the first stakes down on the modern power grid more than a hundred years ago, to the most current challenges and opportunities confronting our communities, public service is in our DNA. Empowering your family and our communities to fulfill their potential is what we do.
Today, our economic development efforts help employers create jobs, expand operations and locate facilities in Ohio. Our philanthropic efforts run the gamut, from raising awareness to raising funds and recruiting experts and signing up volunteers. You'll see us taking pride in the communities where we live, and making a difference wherever there's an opportunity.

It’s called Safety Town — a 3D interactive presentation that incorporates real electricity. It features a variety of scenarios to teach children (and adults) how to stay safe around electricity. One of the kids’ favorites involves a scenario where a bagel gets stuck in the toaster, and mom tries to get it out with a fork!
