THANKSGIVING WIND STORM UPDATE - NOVEMBER 28, 10 A.M.

November 28, 2019

Crews continued to make solid progress through the night, restoring power to more than 10,000 customers affected by yesterday’s wind storm. About 3,000 customers remain without power. With about 42,000 customers out of power at the height of the storm, restoration work is now almost 90 percent complete.

About 800 line, tree, contractor and support personnel have been at work to repair damage caused by winds reaching more than 60 miles per hour as they crossed the state. As restoration work is completed in an area, crews will move to harder hit areas, such as Steubenville, New Philadelphia and Newark. Estimated restoration times are expected to remain on schedule pending no unexpected conditions, with all customers anticipated to be restored by end of day.

“Our crews always work as quickly as they safely can to get our customers’ power back on,” said Tom Kratt, AEP Ohio vice president, Distribution Operations.  “They are very aware that it’s a holiday with full households wanting lights on and food cooked. That’s the goal we are working to achieve and to do it safely. We appreciate customers’ patience and the encouraging words our crews have received. We will be here until the job is done.”

Power outages and downed lines can be reported on the AEP Ohio mobile app and AEPOhio.com.
