A cyber event at a company, Energy Services Group, which provides usage and information from independent competitive electric generation electric service providers, prevented AEP Ohio from including their charges on some March electric bills.
We are working with this company to correct their situation and to ensure that you receive a timely and accurate monthly bill going forward. Unfortunately, because of factors out of our control, we do not know when we will begin to receive accurate billing information from them or your independent competitive generation supplier.
As a result, some bills will not include charges for generation service until this process is restored. The generation service portion is shown in the “blue” segment of graph on the first page, titled supplier charges. Please refer to a bill prior to March if you would like to understand how generation service factors into your bill.
Once the independent generation service providers are able to provide accurate information for generation service charges AEP Ohio will include these charges on a future bill. This may result in a higher bill than customers usually receive.
It is important to note that information provided by and to Energy Service Group from AEP Ohio does not include any bank account or credit card information, Social Security numbers, or drivers’ license numbers.
