AEP Ohio Proposes to Decrease Electric Rates for Customers in Settlement

AEP Ohio today filed an agreement at the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) to decrease electricity distribution rates for its customers. The settlement, which must be approved by the PUCO, would decrease distribution rates by $58.7 million overall. The average AEP Ohio residential customer using 1,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per month would see their electric distribution bill drop by $1.22 per month.

AEP Ohio is closely monitoring regional power grid conditions as the extreme cold that began Sunday, Jan. 19, continues to impact our state. AEP Ohio and other utilities are working with PJM — the regional power grid operator — to maintain electric service across the region. If needed, PJM might ask customers to reduce their electricity usage to protect the power grid.
