Save with Plug-In Electric Vehicle (PEV) Rate

Our Plug-In Electric Vehicle (PEV) rate offers a reduced electric rate to customers with a plug-in electric vehicle (EV). This rate is designed to reward you for helping to better balance demand on the electric grid. To enroll in this rate, you must have a plug-in electric or hybrid vehicle that is charged at your home. The PEV rate can be applied to your whole home, or a separate meter installed for EV charging load. Details are described below.

If You Choose PEV for Whole Home Service:

You do NOT need a separate electric service installed for EV charging load.
During on-peak periods, the highest electricity demand for your entire home (including your EV) will be billed $2.14 / kW.
All electricity usage for your home and EV charger is billed at a reduced rate of 1.31563¢ / kWh.
Your electric bill will include a monthly $10 customer charge.
To be most cost efficient, charge your EV during off-peak times (8:00 p.m. to 6 a.m.) and look for ways to conserve energy in your home during on-peak hours.

If You Choose PEV for Separately Metered Service:

You must have a separate electric service installed for EV charging load.
During on-peak periods, the highest electricity demand by the service for your EV charging will be billed $2.14/ kW.
Electricity usage for your EV charger will be billed at a reduced rate of 1.31563¢ / kWh.
Your electric bill will include a monthly $10 customer charge for your EV service as well as a monthly $10 customer charge for your home service.
To be most cost efficient, charge your vehicle during off-peak times (8:00 p.m. to 6 a.m.)
Your home's electric usage and demand will be billed at the rate which you're enrolled. (Example: The Standard Residential Service rate is 2.63125¢ / kWh and does NOT include a demand charge.)

On-Peak Hours: 6:00 am - 8:00 pm

Before You Enroll

This billing rate is ONLY available to AEP Ohio residential customers and is limited to the first 500 customers. (If you are interested in a PEV rate for businesses, visit here.)
The PEV Tariff is ONLY available if you have an AMI (smart) meter. Learn more about smart meters.
If you would like to enroll in a separately metered service, and do not have two electric meters at your home, please submit a request to modify your home's service.
After you complete the enrollment form below, it may take up to two billing periods before the rate change goes into effect.
